You wash your face twice a day. Be sure to remember to clean your make up brushes. Give them a bath every week to keep them working just like new.
Bacteria may inhabit dirty brushes (yuck!). Consider how much bacteria is on your face. Bacteria, along with natural oils, may transfer to your brushes every time they come into contact with your face.
Quality makeup brushes can cost a pretty penny. You want to take care of them so they continue to function well and last as long as possible. Besides, cleaner brushes means better makeup application.
Here’s what you’ll need to clean your brushes:
- Warm water
- Baby Shampoo
- Towel for drying
How to clean your makeup brushes
Step 1.
Thoroughly wet your bristles in warm water. Be careful to keep the hands dry.
Step 2.
Drip a drop of shampoo onto the bristles. Put more on brushes for blush and foundation and a lesser amount for concealer, eyeliner, and other small brushes.
Step 3.
Gently rub the bristles with the shampoo until later begins to form. Be sure to get every bristle. The lather may be colorful depending on the makeup used. Avoid twisting or distorting the brush shape. Keep the handle and metal part connecting the bristles to the handle dry.
Step 4.
Rinse beginning with the bristles in the center. Rinse thoroughly. Even after there is no longer visible lather, continue to rinse.
Step 5.
Using the towel, blot the brushes dry. Keep the natural shape of the bristles. Be careful not to fan out the bristle or you may damage the shape of your brush.
Step 6.
Layout the cleaned brushes on a towel to dry overnight. If you hang them over the edge of towel, they will dry quicker. If you desire, rotate the brushes every few hours as they dry.
